CALGARY, Alberta, March 22, 2017 /CNW/ -- Mayfair is the first medical imaging practice in Alberta to offer Volpara®Enterprise™ software, which helps breast imaging providers deliver high quality, personalized breast screening. Mayfair has used Volpara®Density™ to generate objective breast density values to help detect cancer in women with dense breasts since 2015 and will use VolparaEnterprise software to help ensure all mammography services within Mayfair are operating at a consistently high level of quality.
As a leader in the medical imaging industry, Mayfair has been providing greater clarity and control to patients across Western Canada for more than 100 years. The organization has also more recently expanded its services into Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and the Yukon. Owned and operated by a group of more than 50 practicing radiologists, Mayfair offers a broad suite of comprehensive breast imaging services including both screening and diagnostic mammography with Tomosynthesis, Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS), breast MRI, and stereotactic and vacuum-assisted breast biopsy (read more about these technologies here). The installation of VolparaEnterprise software at Mayfair will offer mammographic quality and performance metrics for more than 50,000 mammograms at all 10 Mayfair breast imaging locations.
VolparaEnterprise software delivers hundreds of key performance indicators and quality metrics, including patient positioning, compression, and equipment utilization. VolparaEnterprise software will provide Mayfair employees with continuous quality assurance and performance monitoring through dynamic, interactive dashboards feeding ConstantQuality metrics that are updated with every mammography or Tomosynthesis (3D mammography) exam. VolparaEnterprise software, a Microsoft Azure–based solution, is fully integrated with VolparaDensity, the most clinically validated 3D Density solution.
"At Mayfair, it is very important that every person has clarity about their health. Our hope is to transform medical imaging through innovation, patient-centric care, and investment in our community," said Illya C. Boridy, MD, Executive Chair, Mayfair. "The addition of VolparaEnterprise software supports our ability to provide the highest quality breast screening available in Alberta by improving both the quality and efficiency of our exams. Not only does this ensure we can detect breast cancer as early as possible, it also offers peace of mind to the thousands of women we serve."
Designed to support large or small practices, the VolparaEnterprise software enables Mayfair employees to perform rapid quality control checks that help optimize the productivity and efficiency of imaging resources. This in turn helps decrease costs through the reduction of retakes, increase employee effectiveness, and enhance the patient experience.
"Mayfair has a proven track record of adopting innovative technologies to continuously enhance our breast imaging services, from Automated Breast Ultrasound to Tomosynthesis to volumetric breast density measurement to VolparaEnterprise software," said Mark Sevcik, Vice President, Infrastructure, Mayfair. "Ultimately, it is about having the most advanced imaging available to give our patients the very best care. VolparaEnterprise software is a powerful tool that offers a wide array of quality control features and performance data to enhance our exam quality and practice productivity."
Volpara Solutions technologies, including VolparaDensity, are currently in use in 35 countries.
