Rupert Duchesne joins Board of one of North America's largest privately owned homebuilders
OAKVILLE, ON, Jan. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Mattamy Homes is pleased to announce the appointment of Rupert Duchesne, Group Chief Executive of Aimia Inc. (TSX:AIM), to its Board of Directors. The appointment was effective January 1, 2015.
"We're thrilled that Rupert has joined Mattamy's already highly experienced Board of Directors and look forward to benefiting from his advice on a range of strategic and business issues," says Peter Gilgan, Mattamy's Founder & CEO. "I know that his significant background in helping companies better understand their customers as individuals and building meaningful relationships through data-driven marketing, analytics and loyalty programs, and his operations experience, will prove invaluable as we continue to grow our company. This appointment is another example of our continuous focus on enhancing the experience our customers receive, something we've worked hard to excel at over the years."
As Group Chief Executive of Aimia, Mr. Duchesne culminates a decade of innovative stewardship of the rapid growth of the organization from its carve-out as a division of Air Canada in 2002. Under his leadership the company has grown from a single loyalty program in a single market to a truly global enterprise with operations in over 20 countries. Prior to his leadership role in creating Aimia, Mr. Duchesne spent 12 years in strategy and investment consulting around the world before joining Air Canada in 1996, where he held the positions of Vice President Marketing, Senior Vice President International and ultimately Chief Integration Officer, overseeing the integration of Air Canada with Canadian Airlines. Mr. Duchesne holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor Honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of Leeds. He is a Director of Dorel Industries and a past Director of Alliance Atlantis. He is also a member of the National Council of the C.D. Howe Institute and Chair of the Board of Brain Canada.
Privately owned Mattamy elected to establish an external Board of Directors of knowledgeable advisors in 2010 as a governance best practice. In addition to Mr. Duchesne, the other external members of Mattamy's Board also have significant experience and expertise:
- Dave Williams (Lead Director), former non-Executive Chairman of Shoppers Drug Mart, and former CFO and President, Eastern Canada Operations, of Loblaw Companies Ltd.
- Gay Mitchell, Deputy Chairman, RBC Wealth Management and Vice Chair, Royal Trust Corporation.
