Mark ENERGY STAR® Day in Ontario with Save on Energy
Save on Energy Fall Coupon Event offers discounts on ENERGY STAR® certified products
TORONTO, Oct. 25, 2016 /CNW/ - For the first time in Canada, today marks ENERGY STAR® Day, highlighting the value of testing and labelling of energy-efficient products, many of which are offered through Ontario's Save on Energy programs. With ENERGY STAR, consumers just have to look for the blue ENERGY STAR symbol to get the most energy-efficient products for their home.
"ENERGY STAR products meet the highest efficiency standards. That's why they feature prominently in Save on Energy programs such as the Fall Coupon event," said Terry Young, Vice-President of Conservation and Corporate Relations for the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). "Consumers can rely on the ENERGY STAR symbol to help them make their homes more energy-efficient and save money. For example, switching 10 incandescent bulbs to LEDs will save the average homeowner $70 a year."
The goal of ENERGY STAR Day is to raise understanding and awareness of ENERGY STAR and its instrumental role in helping Canadians be energy efficient. ENERGY STAR is also a key component of the Save on Energy programs with discounts on many of the products offered through the coupon event, such as ENERGY STAR certified LED lightbulbs and fixtures.
To help Ontarians celebrate ENERGY STAR Day, the IESO and local hydro companies will be distributing Save on Energy coupons at select train stations in the GTHA to raise awareness about how commuters can manage energy use in their homes. Coupons are also available in-store at local hardware and major retailers across the province until October 30 and online at saveonenergy.ca throughout the year.
