MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - International aid agency World Vision Canada is grateful for the impressive generosity of the Atlantic region in the fight to end child poverty. Last week marked the end of the Maritimes Campaign for Children, an opportunity for more people in the region to help children waiting to be sponsored. Over the past two months people in the Atlantic region sponsored 860 children, which will change the lives of these children, their families and communities.
Sponsors are providing access to education, health care, nutritious food, clean water and helping parents find economic opportunities so they can provide for their children.
"We are so thankful for Maritimers sponsoring children, and impressed by the willingness of the Atlantic region to help others," says World Vision spokesperson Joyce Gonzales. "The Maritimes is known for warm hearts and generosity. They are having a strong impact globally. We see this in the lives of the thousands of children being sponsored by people in the region."
