TSX/NYSE/PSE: MFC SEHK:945
TORONTO, March 18, 2015 /CNW/ - Manulife Investments, a division of Manulife Asset Management Limited, today announced the launch of a new Manulife Private Investment Pool (MPIP), Manulife U.S. Balanced Value Private Trust, and two new mutual funds, Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund and Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund.
"These new funds broaden our platform of investment options for advisors and their clients," said Derek Saliba, Assistant Vice President of Manulife Investments. "These three new mandates provide advisors and investors extensions of the existing Monthly High Income and Strategic Income strategies which have served investors well for many years."
The Manulife U.S. Balanced Value Private Trust will join the Manulife Private Investment Pools platform geared towards affluent investors and will primarily invest in U.S. dividend paying equity and fixed income securities. Inspired by Manulife U.S. Monthly High Income Fund, the Pool applies the same investment objective, process and strategy but within the MPIP program which includes competitive fees, and the ability to allow households to group accounts to potentially receive greater management fee reductions. The equity component will be managed by Alan Wicks, Jonathan Popper and Conrad Dabiet and fixed income will be managed by Howard Greene, Jeffrey Given and Konstantin Kizunov. The new Pool brings the total number of pools with MPIP to 15.
First launched in December 2012, Manulife Private Investment Pools offers a comprehensive suite of investment pools spanning a range of asset classes, and portfolio management by high conviction asset managers from Manulife Asset Management and Mawer Investment Management Ltd.

Manulife Investments also launched two fixed income funds: Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund and Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund. Led by Dan Janis and the global fixed income team, Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund follows the same successful investing mandate as our existing Manulife Strategic Income Fund but is geared towards those looking to invest U.S. dollars. Investors can invest in a fund with its Net Asset Value (NAV), income and year-end distributions (if any) in U.S. dollars with no currency calculations.
Due to the new offerings of the Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund, Manulife Investments will close the U.S. dollar purchase option to new deposits for Manulife Strategic Income Fund at 4:00 p.m. EST on March 24, 2015.
Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund will leverage the same successful team and strategy of Manulife Strategic Income Fund, but focusing on investment grade securities. The Fund will invest primarily in investment grade, global government and corporate bonds offering investors a global aggregate bond investment strategy. Like Manulife Strategic Income Fund, the portfolio management team seeks to add value primarily through country and sector allocation, security selection and opportunistic currency investments.
