Manitoba Telecom Services and the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers renew collective agreement

GATINEAU, QC, July 31, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour, congratulated Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) Incorporated and the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) on renewing their collective agreement.

"I am pleased the parties successfully resolved their dispute," said Minister Leitch. "Building and maintaining strong labour management relations helps promote productive work environments, which is a benefit to all Canadians."

The IFPTE's bargaining units represent approximately 1 250 supervisors, professional and technical employees of MTS Inc., located across Manitoba. The previous collective agreement expired on February 19, 2013.

The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) which provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the Canada Labour Code.
