Majesta Bathroom Tissue Canadian Product of the Year

MONCTON, NB, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - Majesta bathroom tissue, made here in Atlantic Canada, has been chosen winner of 2010 Product of the Year in Canada in the household products category. Majesta, which is made at the Irving Tissue plant in Dieppe, NB, was awarded the prestigious designation at a gala event in Toronto last week.

"It certainly is great recognition to the men and women of Irving Tissue who dedicate themselves to ensuring our customers get a high quality tissue product with each and every package of Majesta. It also reinforces that consumers reacted very positively to our strong environmental commitment that of course is the basis of all Irving Tissue products."

Product of the Year is a global success story that was originally launched in France over 23 years ago and now is present in more than 25 countries. It was launched in Canada in 2009 and is one of the largest consumer product awards that rewards innovation and is voted by consumers.

Product of the Year Canada engaged TNS Canada to survey a representative sample of 12,000 consumer households from across Canada to determine winners in 11 categories.

"Majesta's commitment to responsible forest management resonates with consumers' growing concern and focus on sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint," according to Mary Graham, Senior Vice President, TNS Canada. "Corporate social responsibility is an increasingly critical factor. It makes sense that consumers will reward those companies who can step up to the plate and deliver products that they feel good about using."

Schedler said the recognition was even more special since the voting was done by Canadian consumers. "Certainly to be given this recognition by consumers across Canada is very gratifying," he said. "Majesta started out as a regional product in Atlantic Canada many years ago and now is recognized as Product of the Year, this is something we are all very proud of."
