M E D I A A D V I S O R Y - Why is this year's Distinguished Paralegal Award-winner so intriguing to cover?
TORONTO, May 29, 2014 /CNW/ - Last week, Paula Stamp received the Law Society Distinguished Paralegal Award. What makes that remarkable? Well…...
- Until 2006, Paralegals weren't even recognized by the legal profession as a profession. In fact, Ontario was the first jurisdiction in North America to license paralegals. Today, there are 6,000 licensed paralegals in the province. Paula has refreshing views on where her profession is headed and how the entire legal profession is changing.
- Paula is not just a pioneer in a new and growing field, she's an entrepreneur and a highly successful one. She has 25 people on staff, 6 locations across the GTA and they serve their clients in 20 languages. Paula also walks the walk when it comes to helping others. They've supported over 100 students with co-op placements and created several annual scholarships to fund their continuing education.
- Paula also is a single mom with a 9-year-old autistic son and has raised over $300,000 for Autism Speaks Canada.
- She's a very 'out there' kind of woman, happy to build a business and enjoy the fruits of that success -- and the very essence of a new generation of legal professional.
All to say, she'd make a great interview.
