Low Volatility Global Income Fund Announces Initial Public Offering
TORONTO, July 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Strathbridge Asset Management Inc. is pleased to announce that Low Volatility Global Income Fund (the "Fund") has filed a preliminary prospectus for a public offering of units.
The Fund's investment objectives are (i) to provide Unitholders with quarterly cash distributions; and (ii) to maximize total return through capital appreciation and distributions.
The Fund will seek to achieve its investment objectives by investing in an actively managed portfolio ("Portfolio") of global large capitalization equity securities from the S&P Global 100 Index that have a trailing 12 month Beta of less than 1.0 combined with a tactical option strategy designed to enhance portfolio income and mitigate downside risk. Beta is a financial term used as a measure of a security's or a portfolio's return in relation to the market or an index. A beta of less than 1.0 indicates that the price of a security will generally vary to a lesser extent than the movement of the market or an index and a beta of greater than 1.0 indicates that the price of a security will generally vary to a greater extent than the movement of the market or an index.
To generate additional income above the distributions earned on its equity securities, the Fund will from time to time write covered call options in respect of all or a portion of the securities in its Portfolio.
If the Investment Universe was established on June 30, 2015, it would have consisted of 52 securities screened from the S&P Global 100 Index, and which have a trailing 12 month beta of less than 1.0. The Portfolio will generally consist of 20 to 30 equity securities of issuers selected from the Investment Universe.
The Fund initially intends to pay a quarterly distribution of 5.0% of the respective issue price of the unit on the last business day of the months of March, June, September and December.
The syndicate of agents for the offering is being co-led by Scotiabank, BMO Capital Markets and RBC Capital Markets and includes CIBC, National Bank Financial Inc., TD Securities Inc., GMP Securities L.P., Raymond James Ltd., Canaccord Genuity Corp., Desjardins Securities Inc., Dundee Securities Ltd. and Mackie Research Capital Corporation.
