London Male Charged with Importing Fentanyl

LONDON, ON, June 1, 2017 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, May 30, 2017 members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) London Detachment and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) with assistance from the RCMP "C" Division Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) Montreal, Quebec, arrested a London area male for importing fentanyl.

As a result of a search warrant at a residence on Woodward Avenue in London, Ontario, Colin Brook Stewart, age 56, has been charged with importing a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On May 11, 2017, CBSA border services officers (BSO) at the Montreal International Mail Centre intercepted a package from the Netherlands destined for London, Ontario. "Preventing the illegal importation of opioids continues to be a priority for the RCMP," stated Inspector Joe Czenze, Officer in Charge of the London RCMP Detachment, "This is an excellent example of the RCMP working together with our CBSA partners to prevent the importation of a dangerous substance."

"The CBSA takes its border protection responsibilities very seriously and our officers work diligently to prevent smuggling. This arrest demonstrates the excellent work being done by our border services officers and the successful partnerships the CBSA has with its law enforcement partners." - Joe McMahon, Acting Director, Enforcement and Intelligence Operations Division, Southern Ontario Region, Canada Border Services Agency
