GUELPH, ON, Feb. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - Geoff Linton, local entrepreneur, Owner and CEO of Inbox Marketer Corporation, has purchased the historic former King Edward Hotel in downtown Guelph. Inbox Marketer plans to revitalize the 2 Wyndham building into a multi-use tech hub and centre of excellence bringing innovation to the heart of downtown Guelph.
The digital marketing services and technology solutions company will transform the 17,000 square feet of office space and it will serve as the head office of Inbox Marketer Corporation which also has offices in Kitchener and Toronto. In addition, Linton plans to grow the company's focus on innovation within the digital marketing space by providing a conduit to connect medium size businesses with experienced marketing and tech professionals. "We are very excited to be located along the Toronto-Waterloo Innovation corridor. A tech incubator specializing in digital marketing will attract new talent to the City of Guelph and will be a focal point for innovation, technology and business leadership," said Linton.
The King Edward Hotel, built in the late 1800's was one of the city's first large hotels. With the rail station located across the street, it was the go-to venue for commerce in Guelph's downtown core in those early days. Today, a key area of consideration for the purchase of the building was the proximity to this newly revitalized transportation hub. The ability to move employees and clients along the Toronto – Waterloo corridor is very important to the business and the future plans for growth. It is fitting that Inbox Marketer is not only bringing new life to an old building but also bringing new economic innovation to the heart of the city.
"Congratulations to Geoff and the entire team at Inbox Marketer on their exciting growth and move to this historic downtown space," said Guelph's Mayor Cam Guthrie. "This is exactly the kind of innovation-sector business we want to see grow and thrive in Guelph. We welcome the investment, we welcome the jobs, and we look forward to this new and dynamic chapter for the old King Edward Hotel."
"Our teams at the City of Guelph are working hard to make it easy for businesses to establish themselves and expand in Guelph. We're proud to have supported the transformation of this historic site through the permit process," said the City's Chief Administrative Officer, Derrick Thomson. "Innovative projects like these build on the vibrancy of our downtown core and help firmly establish Guelph's position in the Toronto-Waterloo Corridor."
