TORONTO, March 19, 2014 /CNW/ - Hundreds of Torontonians will "Light the Lamp" of education for Nepal's needy children at the Nepali Children's Education Project's second annual sports and silent auction fundraiser on the evening of March 29 at the Just 4 Fun Sporting Club in the city's west end.
A $25 ticket for the event at 213 Sterling Road entitles you to play floor hockey, soccer, volleyball and dodgeball, or for a $15 ticket you can enjoy the evening as a spectator.
All ticket holders can groove to great music, munch on delicious snacks donated by Mt. Everest Restaurant, and grab a drink at the licensed cash bar, featuring local beer provided by the Junction Brewery. There will also be a silent auction of goods and services donated by local businesses, including a night at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
The doors open at 6:30 pm, the sports start promptly at 7 pm, and the festivities continue until 1 am when the silent auction winners will be announced.
The Nepali Children's Education Project is a Canadian-Nepalese partnership founded on the belief that education is the key to empowering children, families and communities living in poverty to pursue a brighter future.
In addition to providing comprehensive scholarships for children in need, NCEP has developed an innovative one-on-one mentorship program by creating a network of young leaders in Nepal.
The charity was founded in 2008 and continues as an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff and no paid office. Every dollar contributed at the fundraiser will go directly to their education programs in Nepal.
