New Condo construction closes popular Yorkville café on Friday
TORONTO, Feb. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Lettieri Espresso Bar and Café, which has been a mainstay of the Yorkville community for two decades, is closing its doors this Friday, February 27. Lettieri opened on Boxing Day 1996 on the busy corner of Bellair and Cumberland, serving as the perfect place to people-watch in the chic community. It proved especially popular during the heyday of the Toronto International Film Festival with stars and star-gazers alike flocking for its espresso, fresh-pressed juices and panini.
"We opened here on Boxing Day in 1996 and knew this was going to be special after serving the first shot of espresso. It's definitely a sad day for me and for the area," said John Lettieri, President and Founder, Lettieri Espresso Bar + Café. "With the changing times and the condo world expanding, the time came to close the doors. Thank you to our patrons and Toronto, you were great to us."
With the construction of the Minto Yorkville Park condominiums set to begin, Lettieri will close its doors on Friday evening after two decades of service. Over those two decades, Lettieri has served over 5,000,000 espresso drinks. John Lettieri began Lettieri Cafés in 1986, growing the brand to 15 stores throughout the GTA. He has since expanded into the burger business with Hero Certified Burgers, now serving premium Canadian Angus beef burgers in 58 locations across the GTA, with an upcoming expansion into Buffalo, USA.
Lettieri Espresso Bar and Café was founded in 1986 by John Lettieri and has become synonymous with quality, service, and the finest European style coffee beverages available.
