From July 2 to 13, 2014
MONTREAL, April 28, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - With summer approaching, it's high-time to start planning some time for vacation and entertainment. What better way than with an exciting excursion to eclectic Montreal city! World-famous for its summer festivals, the city has also become over the years synonymous with circus art. Combining these elements, a new festival celebrating talents and incredible feats was born five years ago: Montreal Cirque Festival (a.k.a. Montréal Complètement Cirque).
TOHU's international festival of circus arts has responded to the community's needs and established itself as the premier circus event, gathering together companies, artists, circus professionals and audiences throughout the world.
From July 2 to 13, 2014, the Montreal Cirque Festival invites you to Montreal to celebrate the circus across disciplines and offerings for every taste, and for the whole family. With an indoor programming combining new experiences, discoveries and family shows, and not forgetting its outdoor free activities with the tarmac supporting its share of the acrobatics, everything is in place to lure audiences into taking a trip that's complètement cirque!
Some highlights of this year indoor edition:
Opening the Festival, Les 7 doigts de la main from Canada with Intersection, a unique production presented exclusively at the festival from July 2 to 13 at TOHU; First foray to the Festival and Canada for Midnight Circus from United-States, a family experience from a circus family from July 4 to 13 under the tent; From Australia, Gravity & Other Myths offers A Simple Space, eight acrobats daring gravity with humour from July 9 to 12 at Agora de la danse.
The many outdoor and free events will include Minutes Complètement Cirque / Babel_remix at Place Émilie-Gamelin with a spectacular open-air performance of acrobats leaping and climbing on a vertiginous structure of scaffolding that reaches 55 feet into the air! Also, festival goers will be able to test their acrobatic skills at the STM Complètement Cirque Station where circus school trainers will offer initiation workshop such as trampoline, trapeze and slack wire for all ages.
