TORONTO, Feb. 3, 2015 /CNW/ - Denis Mayer, former associate vice president of student affairs at Laurentian University, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) for a two-year term effective immediately.
Mayer held the student affairs post from 1996 to 2013. He recently received an honorary membership in the Canadian Association for Continuing University Education and the leadership award from the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education. His community service includes volunteering at the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, United Way-Centraide, World Youth Days, Ontario Summer Games and the Canadian Games for the Physically Disabled. He is completing a PhD in interdisciplinary studies at Laurentian, with a focus on first-generation students.
