The Government of Canada provides $9,850,000 in funding for the Le Massif de Charlevoix Hotel Complex Limited Partnership
QUÉBEC CITY, Nov. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for both national and regional economic diversification. To this end, Government of Canada support for recreational tourism projects and projects that showcase tourism sites and attractions helps generate significant economic spinoff in regions and communities.
The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that the Le Massif Hotel Complex would receive $9,850,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, for the construction and development of the first Club Med resort in North America, at the foot of the Le Massif ski hill in the Charlevoix region.
The mission of the recently incorporated Le Massif de Charlevoix Hotel Complex (CMC) is to oversee the setting up of the resort. It has two major private partners: Groupe Le Massif and Club Med. The funding provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will allow the CMC to build a 300‑room hotel.
"CED's funding will help the Le Massif de Charlevoix Hotel Complex develop and better showcase the attractions of Le Massif in the Charlevoix region, thus attracting thousands of visitors to the region. Through this support, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to promote Quebec's tourism regions, which has a positive impact on the local economy."
The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development
"The Government of Canada wholeheartedly supports projects that have a positive impact on tourism and the local economy. By providing funding for the Le Massif de Charlevoix Hotel Complex, we are helping to strengthen the vitality, dynamism and reach of our communities, while boosting economic activity."
The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of International Trade
"By investing in the construction of a hotel at Le Massif in the Charlevoix region, the Government of Canada is standing by its commitment. We help organizations expand, innovate and promote tourism. This, in turn, results in the creation of high-quality jobs, vitalizes the regions and ensures a prosperous Canadian economy."
