Lake Winnipeg East Side Road Project - Federal Funding Awarded to Participate
in the Environmental Assessment
OTTAWA, Aug. 30 /CNW/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has awarded $50,000 to four applicants in support of their participation in the federal environmental assessment of the proposed Lake Winnipeg East Side Road Project in Manitoba.
The funding recipients are: Manitoba Métis Federation, Black River First Nation, Hollow Water First Nation and Gaile Whelan Enns.
This funding is awarded through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency and is being provided to assist the recipients in participating in upcoming steps in the comprehensive study process, including the public review of the comprehensive study report.
A funding review committee examined the requests for funding. The committee's report, along with further information on the project, is available in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry on the Agency's website at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca , under reference number 09-03-52056.
The East Side Road Authority is proposing to construct, operate, and maintain an all-season road from Provincial Road 304 at Manigotagan to Berens River.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency administers the federal environmental assessment process, which identifies the environmental effects of proposed projects and measures to address those effects, in support of sustainable development.
