TORONTO, Dec. 4, 2017 /CNW/ - Toronto-based restaurant group KINKA FAMILY is proud to announce the official opening of KINKA IZAKAYA and KINTON RAMEN in Gangnam, the heart of Seoul's entertainment district. KINKA IZAKAYA specializes in thoughtful dishes featuring ingredients and flavours familiar to Japanese izakaya fare, while KINTON RAMEN offers hearty ramen noodles in housemade umami-rich broths.
Designed by Seoul-based interior design firm Danaham, both dining spaces features a full view into the kitchen and large dining areas with eye-catching raw wood, textured concrete accents, and stone walls. Joining KINKA IZAKAYA and KINTON RAMEN together by the entrance is a large, lush outdoor garden bursting with fresh greenery, making the space the ideal tranquil escape from the city.
"Our objective was to achieve a space that feels polished and approachable," says Eun Yi Lee, principal designer at Danaham. "We achieved this through the use of lasting natural materials and finishes, intricate detailing, including custom design of dozens of intricate bespoke furnishings."
"Seoul is a leading city for hospitality and we are very excited about KINKA IZAKAYA and KINTON RAMEN being here in Gangnam, which is considered the trendiest city in all of Seoul," says KINKA FAMILY CEO James Hyunsoo Kim. "We have taken the time to understand the market here, and we have worked diligently to create a menu and dining experience that truly expresses our unique blend of delicious food, energetic style, and warm friendly service."
Both KINKA IZAKAYA and KINTON RAMEN Korea locations will use the same marriage of incorporating local ingredients with strong Japanese flavours and influences as the Toronto locations.
Led by Executive Chef Ippei Iwata, KINKA IZAKAYA's menu offers a wide breadth of tapas, encouraging guests to share in the pleasure of enjoying an intimate meal together. KINKA IZAKAYA also offers daily specials made from local ingredients, as well as fresh sashimi from Japan. KINKA IZAKAYA pairs its food with a selection of sake and shochu from Japan designed to complement the authentic flavours of the cuisine.
Executive Chef Aki Urata brings pork and chicken soup bases to KINTON RAMEN where diners can choose between two types of broths: "Regular" for a milder flavour or "Rich" for a bolder taste. The fresh noodles, available thick or thin, are custom made specifically for the noodle bar. For toppings, guests can choose slices of pork or chicken breast, seasoned egg (soft boiled with an oozing golden yolk), seaweed, sweet corn, and more. Everything is made in-house, from the soup base (simmered for more than 18 hours) to appetizers such as Gyoza, KINTON Ball, and Karaage fried chicken.
