EDMONTON, May 5 /CNW/ - The Katz Group is ready to open the doors to an Open House to discuss the proposed Edmonton Arena District tomorrow, Thursday, May 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Art Gallery of Alberta.

"This is a great opportunity for the people of Edmonton to learn more about the Edmonton Arena District and to have their voices heard," said Bob Black, Executive Vice President Sports and Entertainment, Katz Group, and Project Lead for the Edmonton Arena District. "Continued public engagement is essential as we work towards building the future of our city together."

In addition to the Katz Group, representatives from Stantec Consulting, Bunt & Associates, Anschutz Entertainment Group and other design and technical experts will be on hand to discuss the project, answer questions and record comments. The Open House will include details about the proposed concept plan, improvements to support street level activity, potential features of the new arena, traffic flow for pedestrians and vehicles, sustainable design principles and more.

Mr. Black added, "I recognize that people want to learn more about funding. We are working hard to establish a funding model for the project, but there is nothing to announce at this time."

Photo Information/Caption

"Artist's rendering of the entertainment plaza within the Edmonton Arena District looking south. The Katz Group envisions this plaza as a vibrant outdoor pedestrian area bordered by entertainment venues, restaurants and shops. With heat lamps, heated awnings and fireplaces, this space will embrace Edmonton's place as a great northern city and extend the season for enjoying the outdoors downtown."
