Restaurant lends culinary expertise to recipe development and hosts potato salad party in Toronto on August 5
TORONTO, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Zack 'Danger' Brown (known on the internet as 'The Potato Salad Guy') and his $52,000 Kickstarter Campaign to make potato salad have made international headlines. In July, Jack Astor's invited Brown to Canada to create 'The best potato salad ever' with their head chef– and he accepted!
On Tuesday, August 5, Brown will spend the day with Jack Astor's Executive Chef, Adrian Whitfield, in the Jack's kitchen where Whitfield will teach Brown how to make an amazing potato salad. That night, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jack Astor's St. Lawrence Market (73 Front St. E.), Canadians are invited to taste-test the dish, which will be served at Brown's ultimate Potato Salad Party in Columbus, Ohio, this September.
"When I launched my Kickstarter campaign, I didn't even have a recipe for potato salad," said Zack 'Danger' Brown. "So when Jack Astor's invited me to Canada to work with their chef to develop a recipe that lives up to the hype, I jumped at the chance. I can't wait to spend the day cooking up some magic."
The party is open to all and is free to attend. Party-goers will have the chance to meet Brown and the first 150 guests will enjoy potato salad on the house, made fresh by Brown and Jack Astor's culinary pro (and potato salad expert) Chef Whitfield.
Brown's original goal was to raise $10 and get a few laughs, but as of July 29, his Kickstarter campaign has raised more than $52,000. The campaign officially ends on August 2, and he plans to host a party for campaign supporters in his hometown this fall.

In the past month, Brown has become a feature in mainstream news and has held the Internet's rapt attention as his donations have continued to climb. He's been featured on Good Morning America and Buzzfeed, and has been mentioned on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
