TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - CTV X-terminated the competition last night as 1.8 million viewers tuned in for the debut of pop icon Britney Spears and pop princess Demi Lovato at 8 p.m. in the Season 2 premiere of THE X FACTOR, making it the #1 program of the day with total viewers and all key adult demos. Growing in each half-hour, THE X FACTOR continues to make its mark, up double-digit percentages with A18-34 in all markets over last season's debut and reaching 5.7 million total viewers last night. At 8 p.m. THE X FACTOR (1.7 million) bested head-to-head competitor BIG BROTHER (1.3 million -Global/CBS) by 23%.
At 10 p.m., THE X FACTOR premiere lead in powered CTV fan favourite THE LISTENER's finale to win its timeslot with total viewers and all key adult demos. Wrapping up its most successful season to date, 1.1 million viewers tuned in to the season finale. With a Season 3 average of 1.17 million viewers, the series is up 13% versus last season in total viewers and up double digit percentages with the key A18-34 (+26%) and A18-49 (+14%) demos.

ETALK continued to roll out the red carpet with first class TIFF coverage, with 590,000 viewers tuning into to Canada's reigning #1 entertainment talk show, giving ETALK a 77% edge over ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT CANADA (334,000, Global) and 38% advantage over ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT (429,000, Global).
