FREDERICTON, Feb. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Keith Ashfield, Member of Parliament (Fredericton), today announced $10,000 in funding for Winterfesthiver 2014 on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
The Government of Canada has provided funding through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to support Winterfesthiver. The 12th edition of the event took place on February 1 and 2 at the Capital Exhibit Centre in Fredericton. The activities included musical performances featuring local artists, snow sculpting demonstrations, and artists' displays.
- Over 200 volunteers dedicated 4,200 hours to planning, managing, implementing, and evaluating the two-day festival.
- Winterfesthiver is part of FROSTival Fredericton, Atlantic Canada's Largest Winter Celebration.
- Winterfest NB Inc. is a non-profit volunteer organization.
- Winterfest NB Inc. was inspired by a family's visit to Winterlude in Canada's Capital Region in the mid-1990s.
