The Government of Canada supports Manifesto Community Projects, The Remix Project and Artscape Daniels Launchpad
TORONTO, March 15, 2019 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is committed to supporting the construction and renovation of cultural spaces to promote better access to the arts and heritage for everyone.
The Honorable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, was at the Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts today to announce $900,000 in funding for Manifesto Community Projects and close to $320,000 for The Remix Project. These two organizations will be residents at Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts.
Minister Rodriguez also announced $3 million in additional funding for Artscape Daniels Launchpad, a multi-use arts hub that functions as an entrepreneur centre, incubator and co-working facility for artists and cultural workers across a variety of disciplines. The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund contributed a total of $6.5 million in funding for its construction, of which $3.5 million was previously announced in 2017.
These new financial contributions, totalling $4.2 million, were made through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. They support the construction and renovation of facilities like Artscape Daniels Launchpad, and have helped fund the construction, renovation, and purchase of specialized equipment for The Remix Project and Manifesto Community Projects.
These new spaces will allow a diverse community of artists and creators greater access to inspiring and supportive environments in which they can create, perform and present their work.

Manifesto Community Projects is a youth-powered platform that aims to elevate local artists and inspire young people through arts and culture. The organization hosts an annual festival, as well as year-round programming, which includes community events, workshops, summits, and pop-up exhibits.
The Remix Project offers arts, music, and digital media professional training programs. The organization serves youth who aspire to enter into the creative industries, or further their formal education through high-quality alternative arts education programs, facilitated artist development and professional training.
The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage, culture and creative innovation, including creative hubs. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces.
Budget 2017 proposed an investment of $300 million over 10 years in the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to help support the development of Canadian talent, and promote entrepreneurship in the arts and cultural communities. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada's rich cultural scene.
