INTRODUCING APOTHIC RED, AN ENTICING NEW RED WINE BLEND FROM CALIFORNIA
MONTREAL, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - Apothic Red, a unique new red wine blend of three distinct grapes, is now available in all SAQ stores across Quebec. Inspired by an Apotheca, a mysterious place where wine was blended and stored in 13th century Europe, it offers an enchanting wine experience. This California wine was developed by two winemakers who wanted to explore new territories in red wine blending.
In late 2006, a veteran winemaker worked alongside his protégé Boyd Morrison to explore the Old World traditions of winemaking while realizing a markedly New World style. Morrison used this as his inspiration to create Apothic Red, in which he blends spicy Zinfandel, America's most distinctive grape, with smooth Merlot and lush, dark Syrah.
"We are very proud of what we have developed with Apothic Red," said winemaker Boyd Morrison. "We selected grapes from California's diverse vineyards to ensure that our unique blend delivers our signature intrigue and intensity upon every sip."
Apothic Red's complex, captivating taste is the perfect accompaniment to hearty meat dishes and spicy tapas. It also pairs well with confections and desserts, such as chocolates and fruit tarts. It has flavors of blackberry and dark cherry and hints of mocha, chocolate and brown spice. The plush, velvety mouthful and smooth finish round out this full-bodied blend. Apothic Red is available across Quebec and retails for $15.90.
