Interprovincial partnerships forged at The Royal

TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2015 /CNW/ - The people accompanying the many animals to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) want to meet other people who like the same animals they do. Not surprisingly partnerships are formed. When Koyle Bar Hop 9B won Reserve Grand Champion Female Limousin in 2014 she couldn't know that honour would get her a new home in Saskatchewan. It also meant a return to The Royal in 2015 where she won Senior Yearling Female at the National Limousin Show on November 7.

"Bar Hop" was purchased from her breeder Dwight Koyle of Koyle Farms, Iona Station, ON by Jay Bohrson of Anchor B Limited, Hanley, SK, at the RAWF Elite Sale in 2014. The two breeders, who have been "Limousin friends" for years, agreed that Bar Hop could continue to live at Koyle Farms, appear at The Royal again, and then travel to Agribition in Regina before going home with her new owner in 2015.

"We bring our animals to The Royal because it is one of the premier livestock competitions in Canada," Koyle admits. "I like the competition and the social aspect of the fair. We get to see people we only see once or twice a year at shows and we make good friends." It's the sort of friendship that has Bar Hop moving to a farm in Saskatchewan.

In 30 years of showing at The Royal, Koyle has his share of ribbons and banners. He sits on the beef committee for The Royal; his son Martin, who lives in Saskatchewan now, won the Queen's Guineas several years ago; and cattle from Koyle's field have taken Grand and Reserve Grand championships in the past. In 2015, besides Bar Hop's success, Koyle Farms has the Reserve Bull Calf Champion, a Premier Breeder's banner, and Reserve Champion Junior Heifer.

The Royal is supported in part by the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario.

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is the world's largest combined indoor agricultural and equestrian show. This year, the 93rd Royal Agricultural Winter Fair runs November 6-15, 2015 at Exhibition Place, Toronto. For competition schedules, live webcasting, results and to purchase tickets, please visit
