Internet Advertising Launches New Business Services to Monitor Web Chatter
and Use Social Media Wisely
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 15 /CNW/ -- Mike Johnson, Founder and CEO of International Internet Advertising Services Inc., advises business owners to pay more attention to what's being said about them on the Internet. Johnson says that many business owners don't realize that they are the topic of very public conversations.

"With the explosion of social media and sheer magnitude of personal networks, one customer now has the ability to significantly influence the success of a company," says Johnson, whose Abbotsford-based company is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, making it one of the most experienced web management firms in BC.
Johnson explains that many businesses are missing the point of social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. "If you look at these forums as just more ad space you could well lose rather than make 'fans,'" says Johnson, who likens it to standing in the middle of a gold mine and walking out empty handed. "If you don't actually pick up a chunk of rock and process it, there's no point in going to the mine. So first, you have to really listen and understand what people are saying about your products and service, but that's not enough. You have to do something with that information; change things, make improvements. Your customers will help you succeed if you let them!"
He cautions business owners not to take things like bad reviews personally and to avoid the temptation of lashing out in a direct response to the poster.
"Reacting without thoughtful strategic advice can make matters much worse," Johnson warns.
Johnson says that the new services, which include online reputation management, public relations consulting, and the development of social media strategies, were developed in response to his own customers' needs. "We all exist in two worlds now," says Johnson, "the real world and the virtual world. Most business owners simply don't have time to pay proper attention to what's going on in both places. So now, they can hire us as a sort of 'Regional Assistant Manager' covering the web territory."
