Interim Place hosts its 2nd Annual "Rays of Hope" gala on March 1st, 2014 recognizing Peel Police Chief Jennifer Evans with their "Woman of Courage" Award.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 26, 2014 /CNW/ - On Saturday March 1, 2014, in Port Credit, Interim Place will be hosting its 2nd Annual "Rays of Hope" gala at the Waterside Inn in Mississauga. The event is an annual fundraising gala to support women and their children fleeing violence in our community.
The event which will be hosted by Jake Dheer, Station Manager of Rogers TV will begin with opening remarks by Sharon Floyd, Executive Director of Interim Place. Following this, survivor Sabrina Wright, will share her story of residing at Interim Place with her mother and siblings as a child. Sabrina is one of the over 39,000 women and children that Interim Place has supported since its doors opened in 1981.
The event will continue with an awards ceremony to recognize supporters of Interim Place and women advocates that are helping to End Violence Against Women. The Woman of Courage award will be presented to Chief Jennifer Evans of Peel Regional Police for her contributions to society as the first woman Chief of Police in Peel. Corporate Charity and Community Care awards will also be presented to individuals, groups and organizations that have been outstanding supporters of Interim Place.
The event will continue with dinner, and entertainment by Johnny Max Band, Gerry Stewart as well as Live, Silent Auction and raffle prizes. Closing remarks will be given to thank our Silver Sponsor Phantom Screens, supporters, the organizers, volunteers and all attendees for their support in making this event a success.
