Instagram Sensation Theron Humphrey Adds Artistic Flair to 2012 Paws for the Cause Gala
Toronto's canine-centered charity announces new direction for the event with dog-inspired art exhibit
TORONTO, Aug. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - The Paws for the Cause Gala will be back for its third year and this time with a photographic spin as they partner with Instagram sensation, Theron Humphrey. Humphrey and his Coonhound Maddie, from Maddie on Things, will lead a showcase that will feature a dog- centric art exhibit. Tickets for the third annual Paws Gala, which will bring our furry friends into focus, are now available for $99 at www.pawsforthecause.ca. The gala will take place on October 11, 2012 at the 99 Gallery, 99 Sudbury Street.
Proceeds from this year's gala will be going to the Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic's (CTVRC) Cares Foundation to help subsidize life-saving surgery costs. In addition, funds raised will also go toward the Chloe Award - which has been presented to Francesca Di-mauro, an outstanding University of Guelph veterinary student who has excelled in the area of canine critical care.
"We are excited to change the style of our event this year," says Paws for the Cause Co-chair Laura Serra. "Not only are we able to reach our goals of helping the CTVRC, but Theron and Maddie really inspired us to explore our artistic side and in true Paws fashion, the exhibit will be a unique way for these adorable dogs to help their fellow friends in need."
A casting call is being held to find the city's finest pooches. Paws for the Cause is looking for the most artistic, eccentric, colourful and tricked out pups around, the crazier the better! More information can be found at http://www.pawsforthecause.ca/casting-call/.
The CTVRC is grateful for the support from organizations like Paws for the Cause.
"The money raised with Paws for the Cause and with the Paws Gala will be extremely beneficial to the animals that come through the clinic," says CTVRC Surgical Doctor, Devon Boyd. "Many people are not able to afford the costs associated with life-saving surgical procedures for their pets, and this money gives those animals the care they desperately need."
Last year's gala raised $75,000 and included a star-studded fashion show, featuring stylish pooches and local influencers strutting down the runway in high Canadian fashion.
