Dr. David Eden
, Regional Supervising Coroner, Operations, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Haci Etli.
Mr. Etli
, 34, died on
July 22, 2006
, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in St. Catharines. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding
Mr. Etli
's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last two days and will hear from approximately seven witnesses.
The inquest will begin at
9 a.m.
on
December 7, 2009
, at the St. Catharines courthouse, 59 Church Street, Courtroom 12.
Dr. Darryl Wolski
will preside as inquest coroner and
Mr. Rick Monette
will be counsel to the coroner.
