Innis & Gunn looks to Canada for next great beer idea
Winner of 'Imagine & Gunn' will brew their beer at the Innis & Gunn Brewery in Scotland and see it sold across Canada in 2018
TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2017 /CNW/ - There's no question that Canadians love their beer. But can they imagine the future of beer? That's what Innis & Gunn is on a mission to discover. The brand is today launching Imagine & Gunn, a national competition that invites Canadians to create the next flavour innovation for the Scottish brewer. The winner will travel to the Innis & Gunn Brewery in Scotland in January to brew the limited edition beer, which will bear their name when it's sold across Canada in the fall of 2018.
"At Innis & Gunn, we've brewed beer with raspberries, maple syrup and cherrywood - although not all at the same time, thank goodness. This holiday season, we're even brewing beer with gold, frankincense and myrrh," explained Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn's Founder & Master Brewer. "But the next great Innis & Gunn beer idea won't come from us - it will come from the people of Canada."
Beginning today, Canadians are invited to submit their flavour ideas to the brewer at innisandgunn.com. Flavour ideas will be accepted until 9:00 AM on the morning of October 16, at which time Innis & Gunn's brewing team will select a shortlist of submissions and the Canadian people will get their say on their next limited edition beer - a public vote will then determine the winning flavour.
Innis & Gunn's Imagine & Gunn program was originally launched in Sweden. Mika's Choice, the beer created by this year's winner, is a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Jalapeño Imperial Stout that is currently being sold across Sweden.
Like many of Innis & Gunn's beers, the winning Canadian beer will be aged in bourbon barrels. Entrants will be able to suggest everything from the type of hops and malts to new flavours that inspire them.
Sharp concluded: "We believe that the possibilities for beer are limitless. Imagine & Gunn is an opportunity for us to explore the exciting opportunities for flavor and innovation with the people of Canada - and we can't wait to see what they come up with."
