Industry veterans Ted Haley and A.J. Whitehead join Avison Young in Charlotte

Additions expand firm's industrial and office presence in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC, Jan. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - John Linderman, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's North Carolina offices, announced today that commercial real estate veterans Ted Haley and A.J. Whitehead have joined the company in Charlotte.

Effective immediately, Haley joins Avison Young as a Principal, specializing in industrial brokerage. Whitehead will serve as a Vice-President in Charlotte and will spearhead office tenant-representation services. Haley and Whitehead have a combined 24 years of commercial real estate industry experience.

Haley and Whitehead will work as part of a team headed by Avison Young Principal Christopher Skibinski, who joined Avison Young in 2013 to help grow the Charlotte office as well as lead all industrial transactions in North Carolina.

Avison Young opened its first offices in North Carolina in October 2012 in Raleigh and Chapel Hill when the company acquired Raleigh-based Thomas Linderman Graham Inc. The acquisition added 60 employees to Avison Young's operations, with Linderman joining as a Principal and Managing Director of the Raleigh-Durham offices. The company opened the Charlotte office in May 2013 with Skibinski joining as a Principal.

Haley brings 13 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young.  He most recently served as a Vice-President for Lincoln Harris in Charlotte where he focused on representing owners and end users of office and industrial space.  In his new role he will solely focus on all facets of the industrial sector.

Haley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a licensed broker in both North Carolina and South Carolina and serves as a member of the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors.

Whitehead joins Avison Young from Grubb Properties, where he was a senior commercial broker overseeing the sales, marketing and leasing of the company's 500,000-square-foot commercial portfolio in the Charlotte region. Prior to that, he served as a Vice-President for Jones Lang LaSalle. Whitehead has negotiated 1.2 million square feet of lease transactions valued in excess of $100 million in various parts of the country, including New York City, Chicago and Charlotte.

Whitehead is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing and management information systems. He is currently a member of the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors and is a licensed real estate professional in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Today's announcement comes on the heels of Avison Young acquiring Atlanta-based The Eidson Group yesterday.
