Government of Canada provides financial assistance for Saint-André-de-Kamouraska business
SAINT-ALEXANDRE-DE-KAMOURASKA, QC, June 15, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ -- Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize innovative products. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian enterprises. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success because it generates growth that benefits businesses and communities.
To this end, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, has announced that financial assistance of $397,750, in the form of a repayable contribution, has been awarded to Les Industries Desjardins ltée, to increase productivity and develop new products to support its growth.
Originating with a business founded in 1865, Les Industries Desjardins is today a manufacturing SME, specializing in the design, manufacture and sale of both above-ground and underground mobile and stationary fuel storage tanks and industrial equipment (sawmill machinery). The business currently employs about 50 people.
The funding provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) has enabled Les Industries Desjardins to renovate its production facilities and optimize workflows with leasehold improvements. With this support, Les Industries Desjardins has also purchased new production equipment, including a plasma cutting table and overhead cranes. In parallel with this project, which should create five new jobs, the SME is working to develop other products.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
"By investing in the development of a new product and contributing to the growth of Les industries Desjardins, the Government of Canada is standing by its commitments and helping businesses to expand, innovate and export their projects, so that they can create quality jobs and thus ensure the prosperity of the Canadian economy."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"Les Industries Desjardins is proud to pursue its growth with partners like Canada Economic Development. The support from CED is helping our business to grow by providing access to capital on favourable terms. Our mission is to be a leader in the manufacture of tanks in Canada and to provide quality jobs in our region."
