Indigo Books, Gifts, Kids Store Set to Open in Laval

-Selection, Design and Grand Opening Events Appeal to the Whole Family-

TORONTO , Oct. 6 /CNW/ - Indigo Books & Music Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of their newest Indigo Books, Gifts, Kids store in Laval at 900 Le Corbusier Boulevard.

At 10 am on Friday, October 9th, 2009 the store will open to the public, with grand opening events taking place one week later on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th, 2009 . Events will include family entertainment, author signings, and activities for booklovers and their families to experience at the newest one-stop book, gift and lifestyle destination. The first 500 customers at the Grand Opening on Saturday, October 17th will receive a free Indigo reusable bag. Also on Saturday at 2pm car aficionados and their families will want to meet Jacques Duval , Jean-Francois Guay et Eric lefrancois the French authors of L'auto 2010 and view the collectable cars from East Coast Carz on display in front of the store. On Sunday October 18th Indigo Laval hosts a hockey day event at 2 pm with Jean Perron , the former coach & Stanley Cup winner, and author Jean-Francois Chabot. Throughout the grand opening weekend there will also be story time, mascots and giveaways for the whole family.

Indigo Laval customers will also be able to save more with Canada's Shopportunity which offers customers who spend $40 a coupon booklet with savings worth up to $45 in value.

Employing a store staff of 35 people the store consists of "shop-in-shop" displays and organized areas that thematically arrange over 45,000 different French and English book titles and lifestyle enhancing products such as home décor, gifts, stationery, and gourmet products, creating an exciting environment for booklovers of all ages and interests.

The IndigoKids department is geared toward kids up to 12 years of age and features "edutainment" products, a play area, including a Thomas the Tank Engine table, as well as books, toys, software and games that encourage literacy and cognitive development. Teens and 'tweens are also treated to their own collection of reading and lifestyle products, with this category burgeoning with over 200% growth for Indigo over the past five years.

Indigo's commitment to raising levels of functional literacy in Quebec and across Canada is also significant through the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation, a registered charitable organization that awards grants to high-needs elementary schools across the country to buy books and resources to support literacy. To date over $7.5 million dollars has been distributed to 70 high needs elementary schools across Canada through the Foundation.
