IMPORTANT SAFETY BULLETIN CONCERNING GRACO™ BRANDED QUATTRO™ AND
METROLITE™ STROLLERS
MONTREAL, Oct. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Elfe Juvenile Products, exclusive distributor in Canada of juvenile products manufactured by Graco Children's Products Inc., of Atlanta, Georgia, is today issuing a press release concurrently with a release being issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the United States concerning Quattro™ and MetroLite™ strollers. Further information pertaining to the release that was issued in the United States can be found on CPSC's website at www.cpsc.gov.
That press release references a "December 2007 voluntary industry standard which addresses the height of the opening between the stroller's tray and the seat bottom. This voluntary standard requires larger stroller openings that prevent infant entrapment and strangulation hazards."
We want to stress that these products are safe when used according to manufacturer's instructions.
No other agency in any other jurisdiction in the world requires that this voluntary standard be required within their borders, including Health Canada. Notwithstanding Health Canada's significant mutual cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada did not make a similar request regarding such products imported, distributed, and sold in Canada. Because of the speed at which consumer product information becomes available globally, Elfe Juvenile Products wants to ensure that Canadian consumers are given the same access to the modification kits which are being made available to U.S. consumers, notwithstanding the fact that to date there has been no indication that Health Canada is adopting the aggressive attitude of the CPSC in the United States.

or by calling 1-800-667-8184
It is important to note: In the U.S., a "recall" refers to any corrective action or safety notice related to a product. In this case, the announcement does not instruct consumers to return their product in the U.S. or any other jurisdiction.
Consumers can continue to use their strollers, but we encourage parents to be vigilant about using the safety harness.
NOTE: When using a stroller, parents and caregivers are encouraged to always secure children by using the safety harness and never leave them unattended. To learn more about the importance of stroller safety, please refer to Health Canada's Consumer Product Safety Recommendations on their website at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/child-enfant/equip/carriage-landau-eng.php
