IKEA Canada Voluntarily Recalls Belt for ANTILOP children's high chair

BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, IKEA Canada has initiated a voluntary recall on the belt for the ANTILOP children's high chair. The high chair belt can open unexpectedly in use, creating a fall hazard.

At IKEA, the safety and security of our customers and co-workers is a top priority.  IKEA asks that all customers who have an ANTILOP high chair from supplier 17389 and production date 0607-0911 (YYMM) to immediately stop using the chair and contact IKEA for a replacement belt.

Units: 36,000 pieces in Canada

Hazard:  The high chair belt can open unexpectedly in use, creating a fall hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: While there have been no incidents in Canada, IKEA is aware of eight reports of belts opening, including three resulting in minor injury when a child fell from the high chair.
Description:  This recall involves the ANTILOP children's high chair belt from supplier 17389 with production dates 0607-0911 (YYMM).
Sold exclusively at: IKEA globally from July 2006 to November 2009 for $19.99
Manufactured in: China
Remedy:  Visit an IKEA store for a replacement belt.
