To celebrate the milestone, IKEA Canada is bringing its affordability promise to life through a month of special weekend offers designed to help more Canadians bring home the products they know, love and remember. Every weekend in October, IKEA Canada will offer one iconic IKEA product at 50 per cent off.
The first offer launches October 3 and 4, with 50 per cent off KALLAX (77 x 147 cm), the versatile shelving unit that has helped Canadians organize everything from books and records to toys, keepsakes and everyday essentials. Quantities are limited to 500 pieces per day. Conditions apply. Full details are available at IKEA.ca/50, where each weekly offer will be unveiled.
"For 50 years, IKEA Canada has been part of everyday life at home -- from first apartments and growing families to new routines, new spaces and new ways of living," says Selwyn Crittendon, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA Canada. "As we mark this incredible milestone, we're focused on what has always mattered most: making well-designed, functional home furnishing more affordable and accessible for the many Canadians. These October offers are a simple way to say thank you and help more people create a home that works better for them."
Since IKEA entered Canada in 1976 as a cash-and-carry home furnishing retailer, the way Canadians live, shop and express themselves at home has continued to evolve. Through it all, iconic IKEA products have found a place in homes across the country. From BILLY bookcases that have held family libraries, school supplies and treasured collections, to KALLAX shelving that adapts to changing spaces and stages of life, these products have become more than furniture. They have become part of how Canadians make room for what matters -- the books, the toys, the records, the keepsakes and the everyday bits and pieces that make a house feel like home.
"The best IKEA products are practical, personal and clever -- they are designed to fit into real homes and real lives," says Meghan Willisko, Head of Home Furnishing & Retail Design, IKEA Canada. "Products like BILLY and KALLAX have stayed relevant because they are flexible enough to grow and change with people. They help solve everyday needs, while leaving space for individual style, memories and that little bit of creativity that makes a home unmistakably yours."
That emotional connection continues today. IKEA Canada has 16 stores, 13 Plan and order points, three Customer Distribution Centres, one Distribution Centre and more than 6,500 co-workers across the country. With more than seven million IKEA Family members in Canada, the milestone is also a moment to thank the many Canadians who have made IKEA part of their homes, routines and memories.
The October anniversary offers are part of a broader 50th anniversary celebration, which includes IKEA Canada's marketing campaign, You Give it Meaning, which launched on September 14 and will continue until November 8, 2026. As part of the celebration, IKEA Canada also hosted an experience in Toronto on September 25 featuring exhibits that showcased the history and legacy behind the brand in Canada, as well as the iconic IKEA products that have shaped Canadians' life at home over the past five decades.
A press kit featuring iconic IKEA products from the past five decades - including KALLAX, BILLY, POÄNG and many other well-loved designs that have helped shape life at home in Canada and around the world -- is available here: IKEA.ca/MediaRoom.
Canadians can visit IKEA.ca/50 for details on the October weekend offers and to discover each weekly featured product as it is announced. Quantities are limited and conditions apply. Canadians are also invited to join the celebration and share their favourite IKEA memories using #IKEACanada50.
