IFSC Bouldering World Cup Returns to Hamilton
HAMILTON, ON, May 28, 2014 /CNW/ - Nearly 100 of the world's best competitive climbers from 18 countries will descend on Hamilton, Ontario this weekend for the first North American IFSC Bouldering competition of 2014.
Competition Climbing and Bouldering has seen rapid growth in Canada over the past decade. Exciting action and a dynamic format makes it a great experience for both spectators and participants.
This two-day event, sanctioned by the International Federation of Sport Climbing, kicks off with a qualifying round on Saturday at Gravity Climbing Gym, official facility sponsor of the event. Only 20 athletes will then move to semi-finals. Following semi-finals only the top 6 athletes will have a chance to compete for a spot on the podium.
Defending champions from last year, Killian Fischhuber and Anna Stohr of Austria, will return along side Canada's Sean McColl.
McColl was named the 2013 IFSC Overall World Champion last year and is sure to be the crowd favourite once again.
