ICBC and police remind drivers about intersection safety

More than 250 crashes occur at intersections every day

VANCOUVER, Nov. 4 /CNW/ - ICBC and police will announce a province-wide intersection awareness and enforcement campaign at the intersection of Beatty and Robson in Vancouver on Friday, November 6 at 10 a.m.

The Vancouver Police Department will hold their daily briefing on site at Beatty and Robson. Following the briefing, the campaign will kick off with speakers and photo opportunities on site.

           VPD Superintendent Andy Hobbs
           RCMP Traffic Operations Officer Ted Emanuels
           ICBC Consulting Psychologist John Vavrik
           Available for questions following the briefing: VPD Collision
           Analyst Cst. Jeffery Schell.

    What:  Launch of the intersection awareness and enforcement campaign,
           with speakers and photo opportunities of a mock crash. Following
           the event, media are invited to observe plain-clothes police
           officers targeting dangerous driving behaviours at a nearby
           intersection.

    Where: Media briefing at the intersection of Beatty and Robson,
           Vancouver.
           Plain-clothes officer enforcement at the intersection of Cambie
           and Robson, Vancouver.

    When:  Media briefing on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10 a.m.
           Photo opportunity of mock crash during and after the
           briefing.
           Second photo opportunity with plain-clothes officers between 11
           a.m. and 12 p.m.
