Launches Dry House Challenge iPad app to help Canadians prevent property water damage
TORONTO, March 19, 2012 /CNW/ - This is Canada Water Week, a week-long celebration of water from coast-to-coast. While clean, abundant water is important, Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) reminds you that water can create damage to your property if left unchecked. With that, IBC has launched the Dry House Challenge iPad app to help Canadians learn how to prevent water damage to protect your property.
"During Canada Water Week 2012, IBC reminds Canadians that it pays to take precautions when protecting your property against water damage," says Ralph Palumbo, Vice President, Ontario with IBC. "And the Dry House Challenge iPad app makes it fun for homeowners to take that first step."
IBC's new Dry House Challenge iPad app is a free, fun and interactive game that shows homeowners how to prevent water damage in 15 potential problem areas around the house. While the clock is ticking, you must 'fix' the problem by choosing from a number of possible solutions and dragging the right icon to the source. The faster you solve each problem, the more points you accumulate. As you progress through each level, the selection of tools increases and the job becomes more difficult. Who knew that water protection could be so entertaining?
Based on recent estimates, the Canadian insurance industry pays $1.32 billion each year in claims due to water damage that can result in expensive repair bills and ruin priceless valuables. With a little planning, you can ensure that you and your family protect health and home. And that's an investment with continuing dividends.
