QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 22, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.) is the recipient of two 2015 "TOBY Awards", which were handed out at the BOMA Canada National Awards Gala held September 17, 2016, in Quebec City. The "TOBY Awards" is the most prestigious awards program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry and rewards excellence in this field.
iA Financial Group won the top award in the "Corporate Facility" category for its head office building at 1080 Grande Allée West in Quebec City, and the top award in the "Renovated Building" category for the building located at 2020 Robert-Bourassa Blvd. in Montreal.

The iA Financial Group head office is located on 293,000 square feet of magnificently landscaped property. The impressive structure, designed by New York architect Arthur O. Angilly, was inaugurated in 1951, and has been expanded three times since: in 1958, 1976 and 2002. The most recent expansion increased the total area of the building to 256,000 square feet.
The jury took into account many criteria in deciding the winners, including air quality, energy efficiency, services to tenants, environmental friendliness, impact on the community, involvement in the community and the architectural integration of expansions and renovations.

iA Financial Group acquired this 26-floor building in April 2011 and since that time, has invested more than 35 million dollars in major renovations.
Among the improvements made to the building, is the transformation of the above-ground parking floors into modern office spaces. The unused movie theatre space located below the Metro level was then transformed into a new parking level. This allowed the transformation of the face of the building into an atrium with four storeys of glass windows and a terrace on the atrium roof. iA Financial Group also created a new food court and included a parking area for 200 bicycles, as well as showers for the cyclists.

The BOMA Canada National Gala Awards were held in Quebec City during BOMEX, BOMA Canada's national conference and exhibition, held September 15 to 17, 2015. More than 400 people were in attendance. This is the second time that the event has been held in the province of Quebec, the first being in Montreal in 2009.
