Hydro-Québec's next-generation meters: no change to customer billing

MONTREAL, Jan. 30, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec reaffirms that the installation of its advanced metering infrastructure will not be accompanied by a change to rates. The next-generation meters allow Hydro-Québec to read customers' consumption remotely and to bill based on actual consumption.

The company has no plans to apply time-of-use rates as is the case Ontario.

The savings of $300 million associated with the project are exclusively attributable to remote meter reading and to remotely managing disconnection and connection requests when customers move.
