TORONTO, Feb. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Olympic Team will celebrate their success in Sochi at the Closing Ceremony dressed in a look that is truly Canadian, designed by Hudson's Bay.
Made from 100 per cent wool and fashioned in all three key colours of the collection - red, white and black, this sweater is timeless, comfortable and perfect for Canadian winters. Inspired by classic winter sports such as skiing and curling, it prominently features CANADA across the chest and, on the back of the sweater, rests the beaver beside a Canada Leaf. The Canadian Olympic Team will accessorize the look with red trapper hats and the 5th edition Red Mittens that were also seen during the Opening Ceremony in Sochi. The look is complete with a black turtleneck and black bottom.
"The Closing Ceremony brings Team Canada together to recognize their incredible achievements over the past 17 days," says Hilary Kelley, VP of Design, Creative Director, Hudson's Bay. "A time for joy and National pride, we wanted our athletes to command attention during this Olympic moment in a celebratory, yet relaxed look that embodies Canadian Cool."
All of the looks worn by the athletes over the past 16 days during the Opening Ceremonies, on the podium and in the village were designed by Hudson's Bay and have resonated with Canadians from coast-to coast, and many items have been selling out at Hudson's Bay stores across Canada.
"The uniforms that our Canadian Olympic Team wore throughout the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games conveyed confidence and pride," said Derek Kent, Chief Marketing Officer, Canadian Olympic Committee. "This collection has received rave reviews from our athletes and Canadian fans across the country. Everyone is proud to wear Canada and show their support for our Team."
To get the Closing Ceremony look, fans can purchase replica versions of the knit sweater, trapper hat and the mittens at Hudson's Bay stores across Canada and online at thebay.com
