Those on the list will receive an exclusive seven-day window to purchase their tickets before the general public. Last year more than 30% of the 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens inventory sold in the first week of ticket sales, therefore organizers are encouraging fans to act fast given the recurring trend of a very enthusiastic Early Bird fan base.
"The HSBC Canada Sevens continues to grow in popularity, with a rugby audience in Canada clearly on the rise" said Allen Vansen, CEO, Rugby Canada. "Our priority is to make sure we offer ticket options for long-time loyal rugby fans as well as our new and emerging fans that span from young up-and-coming players to general sport and entertainment enthusiasts. Having sold more than 30% of the entire event inventory in the first week of sales last year, we strongly encourage fans to sign up for Early Bird access to ticket sales to ensure they don't miss out in 2018."
Ticket offerings at this time are packaged as two-day passes, and include the following options: General Admission tickets remain at $99.00/two-day, with a group rate (10 or more tickets) for $89.00/two-day; 7's Reserved will cost $129.00/two-day while 7's Access remains at $159.00/two-day; Club and Elite 500 seats are available this year at $239.00/two-day, and finally Field Side Premium seats at $475.00/two-day. During last year's 2017 HSBC Sevens Series, the Canadian men delivered some of their best-ever performances, including making history with their first ever Cup win in Singapore in April, and finishing 8th overall for the 10 round Series. Meanwhile, the Vancouver tournament itself broke records for a second year in a row, hosting the two largest rugby crowds in Canadian history, with more than 76,000 fans arriving early at BC Place Stadium to welcome and cheer on all teams over the course of the two-day event. Across the global series, attendance increased in 2017 by almost 10%, resulting in an in-stadium audience of 734,000 fans, a social media community of 120 million, and broadcast to a global TV audience in more than 100 countries.
2018 will mark the third year that Vancouver will host the HSBC Sevens Series, and the popularity of this dynamic and unique sporting event continues to grow – not only with local fans, but with people around the world including former England captain Rob Vickerman who stated after last year's tournament, "I was so impressed with the HSBC Canada Sevens. In just its second year, it is already a fantastic tournament. Phenomenal. In fact, it is so good I would say it's of Hong Kong standards." Vancouver is currently confirmed on the HSBC World Series calendar for 2018 and 2019 as part of their four-year commitment following their successful bid in 2015 to bring the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series to British Columbia and Canada.
"We'll continue to adapt to the growing demand for this event, while staying laser focused on delivering excellence to the athletes who come here to play; to the fans who bring their personality and their passion to make this event one of the best on the Series; and to all our committed partners who play such an integral role in making the weekend a success," said HSBC Canada Sevens Managing Director Jamie Levchuk.
Details regarding 2018 HSBC Canada Women's Sevens tickets will be released in the coming months.
