TORONTO, May 18, 2016 /CNW/ - Some of the best summer moments take place at the fun pool parties with family and friends. While hosting is enjoyable, it can also be quite exhausting, so plan ahead to prevent yourself from running around and stressing last minute. Organizing in advance will ensure that you have a great time outside while still keeping your guests happy.
Stock up
There are some things you can never have too many of. Extra towels and pieces of clothing for kids who may lose something is great to keep around the house in case.
Additional sunscreen and pool toys will always come in handy down at the water. To ensure the comfort and safety of your guests, keep a bin of products they may need nearby. Some handy items can include Natrapel Bug Repellent to ward off bugs and After Bite for relief if the repellent was applied too late.
BBQs for lunch or dinner
To ensure you feed your guests but avoid spending your day stuck in the kitchen, keep it simple and use the barbeque. It adds to the outdoor fun when everything is served outside – and that is even easier when the cooking is done in the backyard as well. It also helps to plan your menus out in advance and make lists the day before you're expecting guests so you have everything you will need based on the amount of people expected. Meal preparation can be a social activity too – get the best barbecuer on the grill. Don't forget to make fun desserts afterwards! Letting the kids make dessert is often a hit since it is an easy, safe and exciting task.
Suggest extra fun activities
Aside from the classic pool toys, a great host will help add to the pool party fun with suggestions of other activities. Throughout the day, keep the kids busy with a scavenger hunt or additional backyard games such as soccer or basketball. Other "on land" games can be planned for everyone to get involved in – including the parents. A fun idea could be having a battle between the kids and parents as a break from the pool.
