Horror Icon Bill Oberst Jr. gives life to a new villain in the upcoming 'Ditch Day Massacre'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Meet Vick, the bloodthirsty villain played by Bill Oberst Jr. ("Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies) in a newly leaked scene from the forthcoming horror feature film, "Ditch Day Massacre." Here, Vick is invited in for a cup of coffee by the sassy Mrs. Donattucci, played by Lynn Lowry ("The Crazies").

"Playing this scene opposite Lynn was a blast," Oberst Jr. said. "She is great to work with and was open to my idea of a passionate after death kiss! So was producer Megan Waters, who took on the challenge of producing a daytime horror and succeeded. I really get to play a villain that was so dynamic and complex. I am very proud to be a part of this film and it speaks volumes to Megan's creativeness and producing ability."

Waters, of Water Tree Media, has announced post-production is complete for the film. It is eyeing a 2014 premiere on the independent film festival circuit.

Directed by Joe Hendrick, the unnerving and cleverly plotted story follows a group of high school seniors who throw a ditch party and are hunted by Vick, who is hell bent on revenge.

"It's a throwback to the 80s," Waters said, "offering those nostalgic moments that we loved about that decade of horror. It's a fun, fast ride of a movie with a solid story, amazing villain and really gory effects. Plus, the dark humor laced within the film will make you laugh out loud."

Also starring are Katy Foley ("The OG Girls") and Zach Silverman ("Tell Gordon Hello").

Shot entirely in daylight over 17 days, the film stays close to its 80s slasher roots, relying on real special effects instead of computer-generated imagery.

The script is by Daniel P. Coughlin ("Lake Dead") and Ryan Coughlin. Josh and Serrira Russell created the special effects and Giona Ostinelli ("Most High") composed the film's original music score.

Parlaying her success as a TV producer of 92 episodes for the Speed Channel's "Chop Cut Rebuild" and "Street Tuner Challenge," "Ditch Day Massacre" marks the first feature film from Waters. Speed, a subsidiary of Fox, was the premier broadcaster for "Chop Cut Rebuild" and "Street Tuner Challenge," which have gone on to sell in more than 60 territories worldwide.

Waters also produced Speed's TV documentaries "The Corvette Affair" and "The Mustang Mystique."
