Horizon North Logistics Inc. announces addition to executive management team

CALGARY, Jan. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Horizon North Logistics Inc. ("Horizon" or "the Corporation") announced today that it has strengthened its management team with the addition of a new senior executive.  Mr. Rod Graham has joined the Corporation in the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Planning.  Reporting to Bob German, President and Chief Executive Officer, Rod will work closely with all of Horizon's operating units and corporate function heads to continue to improve and grow the Corporation's business, with an emphasis on identifying, and positioning Horizon to participate in intermediate and longer-term opportunities.

Rod has been a member of Horizon's Board of Directors since January 2007 and has served as Chairman since January 2010.  He has resigned his position on the Board effective today.  Before he joined Horizon, Rod was the President and CEO of ZCL Composites Inc. - an Edmonton based, TSX listed, fiberglass tank manufacturing company.  Prior to his role at ZCL, he was a co-founder and Managing Director of Northern Plains Capital Ltd. - a Calgary-based private equity firm focused solely on investing in oilfield and energy industrial companies.  Prior to co-founding Northern Plains, he had short stints at Peters & Co. Limited and RBC Capital Markets interspersed within an 11 year tenure at ARC Financial Corporation, a Calgary-based private equity manager.  Over the course of his career Rod has actively served on the Board of Directors of 14 different oilfield service and infrastructure companies.  Rod holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Masters of Business Administration and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Mr. Russell Newmark will assume the position of Chairman of Horizon's Board of Directors.   Russell has been a member of the Corporation's Board of Directors Board since the inception of the Corporation on June 1, 2006. Russell has extensive and diverse business knowledge and experience throughout Northern Canada and has been Chief Executive Officer of E. Gruben's Transport Ltd. since 1990, a successful contracting firm based in the Northwest Territories.
