With traffic up 65% and total sales increased by 17%, hmv Canada celebrates the success of its Hot Black Friday deals.
TORONTO, Dec. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - hmv Canada, the country's premiere retail destination for music and entertainment announced today successful weekend results, from its biggest Black Friday sale ever. Canadians took advantage of the retailer's deals which began on Friday November 29th 2013 and lasted throughout the weekend.
Store traffic through hmv Canada's doors spiked at 65% over last year. Among the top Black Friday offers were discounted blu-rays and technology items, which both saw a growth of 35% in sales from last year.
"We are extremely pleased with our performance over the Black Friday weekend," said Nick Williams, President and CEO, hmv Canada. "Not only did we see strong growth in our audio and visual products, our newer categories such as apparel and gift and collectables exceeded expectations, increasing 70% and 88% respectively from last year. The success of our Black Friday weekend, and strong sales throughout this year and holiday period are keeping us on track with our forecasts heading into the final month of trading."
The Black Friday sale was also an exciting weekend for purehmv, the company's loyalty rewards program. Purehmv members took advantage of Black Friday offers, totalling over 300 million bonus points rewarded in stores across Canada.
