TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Planet Fitness, the home of the Judgement Free Zone®, aims to spread kindness and end bullying this October by donating 100 per cent of all new member enrollment fees now through Oct. 13 to its nonprofit partner, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. Everyone is invited to join for just $5 down, and then $10 a month with no commitment. Existing Planet Fitness members are also welcome to make an in-club donation to the cause during that timeframe.
The promotion helps support programs to prevent bullying and promote a culture of kindness through Planet Fitness' philanthropic initiative The Judgement Free Generation™.
Bullying has become all-too-common in today's society. In fact, 50 per cent of Canadian students report that bullying is a problem at their high schools.1 As a company focused on eliminating judgement and intimidation, Planet Fitness is committed to addressing this issue. Planet Fitness was a sponsor of BGCC's 2017 National Youth Forum that took place in Ottawa in May 2017.
"Our clubs are safe, judgement free spaces for our members, and our goal is to extend that same culture of acceptance to youth and the communities we serve," said Chris Rondeau, Planet Fitness CEO. "We look forward to continuing to deepen our impact in the years to come."
"Through the work we do with children and youth across Canada, we get to see first-hand the impact that belonging, one of our core values, has on confidence and long-term success," says Owen Charters, President & CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Planet Fitness to support pro-kindness initiatives that promote self-esteem, inclusion, and empowerment for our young people."
