Vapourization ensures dose consistency and minimizes health risks inherent in smoking
SASKATOON, Feb. 26, 2014 /CNW/ - CanniMed Ltd. is excited to announce an agreement with Storz & Bickel GmbH & Co. to be the exclusive Canadian distributor of the Volcano® Medic vaporizer, the only device approved by Health Canada for the consumption of medical marijuana. This premiere vaporization system gives CanniMed patients another delivery option to consume medical marijuana without the health concerns inherent in smoking.
With precise temperature controls, the Volcano Medic heats the cannabinoids in marijuana, including Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), just to the point where they become vapour and are inhaled by the patient. Because the temperature does not get high enough for the leaves and other plant matter to burn, patients can be confident that the vapour is the purest, most natural form of marijuana. Additionally, the Volcano Medic mouthpiece features a check valve that reduces the chance for contamination to be left behind.
"The Volcano Medic is a top-of-the-line piece of medical equipment. It's the best vapourizer on the market, bar none," said Brent Zettl, CEO, CanniMed Ltd. "This is the first time the Medic has been available in Canada and we're excited to be able to bring it to our patients."
Using this delivery method for medical marijuana is exceptionally valuable because the vapour produced can be tested to determine the exact cannabinoid dose that is being delivered to the patient, offering a solution to the physicians concerns of dose consistency. By measuring the value of different doses and strains of marijuana, we are working towards closing the knowledge gap regarding which strains offers the greatest benefit for different medical disorders.
Registered CanniMed patients are now able to order the Volcano Medic from www.cannimed.ca in conjunction with their medical marijuana order.
