- The Government of Canada has provided over $146 million in funding through Status of Women Canada to support more than 720 projects since 2007. This includes more than $54 million invested in projects that promote women's economic security and prosperity.
- October is Women's History Month in Canada. The theme for 2014 is Canadian Business Women - A Growing Economic Force. From entrepreneurs to corporate leaders, women continue to play a pivotal role in building Canada's economic success.
"Our Government's number one priority is creating jobs, growth, and long-term prosperity. That's why we are pleased to support projects like this in British Columbia and across Canada that help women-led businesses to grow, and their communities to prosper."
The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch
"We are pleased to partner with the Government of Canada to promote women-owned businesses to be suppliers of goods and services for major international events hosted by our country, such as the 2015 Women's World Cup and the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
In 2015, hosted events will represent over $700 million in business to Canada. These events bring buyers from around the world to our country, and can provide Canadian businesses the chance to shine on the global stage. We look forward to helping women-led businesses connect with these new international opportunities."
